When we first set out to find toys for babies, we wanted to have hand crafted wooden toys that were quality and had a story. When our first baby was born we were given a wooden rattle by an aunt from New Zealand. It was so simple, but colourful and our baby was attached to it from the moment he saw it! We contacted the manufacturer which turned out to be a toy craft company from the South Island of New Zealand called Gepetto.

Gepetto was established in 1980 and specialises in the manufacture of wooden toys for babies. The wood that is used in the toys is a locally grown sycamore maple, which is harvested annually for toy production. Gepetto is based in the small town of Alexandra in the South Island of New Zealand.

The bead rattle is a fantastic wooden toy that our newborn loved, we knew once people had seen the toy it wood prove every so popular. It comes in a range of colours to suit both boy or girl. Also for teething times, Gepetto do a fantastic wooden teething ring that again come in a range of colours.
